I am a little crazy over chain jewelry right now. Okay a little is an understatement. Apparently metal link chain accessories will be one of the hottest trends for 2013. The chunkier and bolder it is, the better. I like how this edgy jewelry adds a bold statement to a simple pair of jeans and top ensemble.
As you may have guessed, I made some DIY chain jewelry for less than $10. I took advantage of the year-end sales (Woohoo!) over at Michaels to work on my latest project.
Here is what you need to get started.

My first project is a Link Chain Bracelet.

- I ran the link chain around my wrist to determine how tight I wanted it to be. You can easily adjust the length of the chain by removing the links with a pair of pliers. Once you get the length you want, place the ends together so you will have two layers of chain.
- Using the pliers, string a jump ring through the middle (end) of the chain.
- String a lobster claw closure and the two ends through a jump ring. The claw is supposed to hook on to the jump ring in the middle to secure the chain. And that’s it! Easy peasy huh.
My second DIY is a Layered Chain Necklace which is super simple to make. Basically, I layered a long chain by folding in the strings together. Next, I secured each end with two jump rings. For the final step, I used another long chain that goes easily over my head, to connect on each end of the layered piece.
Here is the end result. To add dimension to the design, use link chains with different pattern and thickness.
Okay, since this is a DIY jewelry post, I figured that I would add a Hex Nuts Bracelet that I made during the holidays, which by the way goes very well with my Link Chain bracelet. This one is my Pinterest inspired project. I adapted the DIY by using suede cord instead of twine, and I attached a lobster claw closure and jump rings to secure the ends.
