I have been feeling exceptionally creative this week. While the hubby is away on a business trip, I had the pleasure of spending more time reading other people’s blog, design magazines and checking out awesome pins (Hallelujah for Pinterest!) I was very inspired by many of the creative concepts so much so that my mind was bursting with craft and print design ideas.I admire creative people. Having worked in a creative environment before, I was impressed by the ability of others to come up with innovative ideas. But I have come to realize that in reality, we all have a capacity to be creative. Whether it’s in baking, making music, writing, painting, sewing, we have an innate ability to create something. It’s just that we have forgotten to be creative, and this has made us think that we are not talented at all.
” When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something.”
- Steve Jobs -
Never underestimate the power of creativity because creativity does not need an intellectual mind, all it needs is seeing beyond the innovation and making the connection to express our individuality to the world. This is so true. Have you seen how kids play? Their imaginations are reflected from the things they see and understand. Sometimes it is so profound to the fact that it teaches us one thing or two about the backdrops of life.
If you have kids, I have a great article to share from Exquisite Minds on nurturing creativity in young children. As adults, we can also take the cue from the article that we need to develop our creative minds just as well. So stop finding excuses, get up and get creative! Set aside some time or even an hour a week to do something that inspires you, and stay committed on the course.
As I think, therefore I create! So here’s a poster I designed to go along with today’s blog. The photograph was taken a while back. I wanted the moving clouds and the changing colors of the sky in the background to reflect that creativity is ever evolving in us even if we allow it to stay dormant. The only disadvantage is we fail to be enriched by the value and progress of this talent in us.
Just this moment of being inspired got me to create an inspirational poster, and I hope in whatever measure, you will be inspired too. Create something today. Let these three encouraging words continue to remind us to stay creative.
